The Re-Imagination

March 7, 2022
Last month, the following was published in the Sydney Morning Herald ‘A Traditional School Day Re- Imagination’ at a school in Sydney’s North-West. The article can be viewed here. Now, I may sound biassed here as I am very fortunate to also be a teacher at this school, but from an entrepreneurial perspective, I couldn’t help to ponder on how I can ‘re-imagine’ the ‘traditional tutoring method’. So, I share the below wonders or visions.

  1. Tutoring in the morning before students attend school;
  2. Tutoring companies to work within schools to support students ‘one on one’ during school hours; Or,
  3. Online Group Sessions during the day.

All of the above may seem ‘out of the ordinary’, however, we are surrounded by a world that is rapidly changing; things that were performed 5 or 10 years ago are no longer around, or have been re-designed to be pertinent to our human lives right now. As such, schools have already re-imagined their methods of a ‘school day’ to fit the above notion. An example of this is the neighbouring school of mine in Sydney’s North-West, has introduced an ‘Online Distance Education School’ which contains up to 400 enrolments. Who would have thought 5 years ago that a school can deliver all of their learning via online platforms only…

Suffice to say, why can’t I look to re-imagine the methods of Tutoring when some schools have begun to re-design models to challenge the ‘traditional way’ of schooling. We are living in a world that is rapidly changing and if we don’t constantly evolve, we will eventually dissolve, or fall behind in our surroundings.
